WAD'S FOOD SAFETY?
Food safety can be practise everywhere including home,schools,workplaces and even during shopping! Food safety is to ensure that the food are free from microbial,physical and chemical contaminations. It means that when food is being consumed, it does not contain any contaminants at levels which can harm a person's health. Such contaminations can also be refered as food safety hazard. It is a condition or agent that could affect a person's health adversely. Agents found in food can be either biological,physical or chemical. It can even be found in the animal feed or plant fertilizer which will be eventually transferred to humans upon the consumption of such products,causing adverse human health effects. Thus, we have government bodies and organizations such as AVA,FDA,WHO to regulate the safety of food that are import or produce in the country. They ensure a continuous supply of safe food while safeguarding the health of animals and plants and help to facilitate agri-trade. In Singapore, the main food safety authority is the AVA. Singapore observes stringent food safety measurements and standards,ensuring that the food found in the markets are perfectly safe for consumption. It is everyone's role to ensure food safety irregardless whether it is the responsibilty of the government bodies,industry or consumers.
